Liona Poon is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She undertook her specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and subspecialty training in Maternal Fetal Medicine in London.
During her 3-year training fellowship from the Fetal Medicine Foundation, she has established a major screening programme for early detection of preeclampsia, which led to a Doctorate of Medicine (Research).
Her research in preeclampsia has led to a pan-European multicentre randomised controlled trial of Aspirin vs.placebo in the prevention of preterm preeclampsia (ASPRE), which is funded by the EC FP7 scheme.
She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in the top quartile of international journals in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Hypertension.
